About this offering

**IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?** This course offering is designed for people who: - want to gain employment or vounteer in a commercial maritime operation such as working as a deck hand with a ferry operator; on harbour or coastal crusiers or marine rescue. This qualification is the minimum required to work on commercial vessels operating in Australian waters. **MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE** There is a new version of this course coming soon. If it is available before you complete your studies, you will be notified of your options and may be transferred to the new course. **SERVICES AND STUDY SUPPORT** There are additional learning and study tools available for this course, including: - Students can access Maritime Studies teachers and customer service at TAFE Digital via phone Monday – Friday during business hours or via email at any time. Students are encouraged to call and speak with a teacher when they need help with their studies. - When it is identified that students are not engaging in their studies, they will be contacted by phone or email and offered support to re-engage. - Optional classroom tuorials covering all units are held at TAFE Digital Strathfield, Sydney and are available for you to attend throughout your course. - All practical training and assessment sessions in this course are delivered in Sydney. Note: Classroom tutorials and practical sessions are dependant on minimum student bookings.

To be eligible for government subsidised training under the Smart and Skilled program, individuals must meet personal eligibility requirements including:
  • You must live or work in NSW
  • You must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen. Temporary Visa Holders who are contracted NSW Apprentices / NSW Trainees may be eligible for government subsidised funding. Please contact your TAFE college/campus
  • You must be 15 years old or older
  • You must have left school
