About this offering

This course is offered by Connected Classroom.  This is just like a regular classroom, but teachers and students use the latest video conferencing technologies. Your teacher can be in one TAFE location, and you can join the class from another TAFE location using video conferencing equipment or a mobile device. You can also join in from a venue in a participating regional community. You will be able to see and talk to your teacher and other students as though they were in the room with you. You will also have access to support to meet your learning needs. Teachers and students can present course materials, engage and interact with one another, and work in small groups together, all as though they were in the room with you. Sessions are hosted on Microsoft Teams. This provides all the benefits of classroom workshops — working with other students, asking questions with immediate answers from teachers and peers, and encouraging deeper discussions and learning — with the flexibility of online learning, as well as enabling us to provide training to a much wider range of communities and people. **IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?** This course offering is designed for people who: - May often find themselves in a ‘counselling role by accident’, to support a friend, child, colleague, customer or stranger, in times of distress or difficulty. - This short course aims to provide non-counsellors with a range of basic counselling skills and principles. Participants will gain a practical framework for managing issues and a sense of structure and confidence as they support people. Participants will learn: - Active listening techniques. - Key features of two counselling approaches. - The importance of boundaries and self-care. **SERVICES AND STUDY SUPPORT** There are additional learning and study tools available for this course.
